Well, there you go.....

OK, so ....here I am, starting my first Blog....uhm...now what?

Why did I start this Blog? Why does anyone? To connect and share information with like minded people out there? To promote ones self or products/abilities and possibly make some money? Because you are a bored SAHM looking for new, creative outlets and need to know you are not alone in the world?

I would like to think that I am starting a Blog to hold myself accountable to something, ANYTHING, with some amount of discipline. Something beyond the usual housekeeping, child rearing, wifely, homemaking duties that are expected of me (and happily given!)on a day to day basis. I find myself trying to define my role as an individual beyond the MOMMY/WIFE/CHAUFFEUR/COOK/HOUSEKEEPER persona. As probably any SAHM will attest, this is sometimes not an easy thing while you are still in the "trenches". Having been out of the paying workforce for some years now I find myself at a loss for direction in some areas of my life. Apparently I am not a great self motivator when it comes to work that does not "need" to be done right away. Alright, I'll stop sugar coating it, I am a huge procrastinator (and yes, sometimes just downright lazy!) And, when I do get motivated on a specific project with no deadline I find myself starting multiple things without actually finishing one. To say I am easily distracted would be a bit of an understatement, ooh look at that-a pretty orange butterfly, was it a Monarch? Sorry, back on track -

I am hoping that I can use my Blog as a creative outlet that will connect me to other creative people who accept that I am kind of all over the place. I also like the idea of being able to compile all of my interests and favorite things (ie, fav craft blogs) in one place, instead of little digital files cluttering up my computer and craft folders all over my house. If having this outlet helps me to rediscover who "I" am as a person while giving me at least a vague sense of direction, it will have all been worthwhile.

I guess the simplest answer to the question of "Why did I start this blog?" is this-
BECAUSE I CAN. And if I happen to learn a little discipline along the way, so be it.

*** Oh, and BTW, I am probably one of the most technology impaired persons out in this fun ether we call the Internet..so please be kind, I have no clue what I am doing most times!(advice welcome and encouraged!)

  6. I appreciate your honesty on not being the most computer literate person, as I can totally relate! This whole "Blogging" thing is new to me as well. Welcome though. It can be fun but be careful because it can be very time consuming! Have fun on your new adventure! Thanks for becoming one of my followers!

  7. Hi and welcome to blogging! Each of us was brand new once ( says the person who's only been doing this for 6 mos so trust me...I know!) I didn't see how to email you so here is more about my "Turkey Tail" banner.

I did the lettering in my graphics program ( I have Printshop Deluxe by Broderbund) but I'm sure you could do this in Word or any graphics program you have. I'm guessing they all have similar functionality but in this one there's an option that lets you make an initial cap / monogram w/ your choice of graphic so that's what I did and just copied / pasted and changed each letter. Printed on cardstock and cut out.

    Hope this helps!

  8. oh that is just what I was thinking about! I have just started a blog because I had this overwhelming urge that I should/could/would enjoy it. I am! But it is good to question why we do something & what we hope to achieve with it all. I found the techie side a bit overwhelming initially (& still do to be honest, beyond my comfort zone!) but I am slowly learning!
